10 GREAT BEACH STYLES TO TRY ON YOUR NEXT HOLIDAY
I absolutely love an impromptu trip to the beach. The salty wind in my hair, the rhythmic crashing of the waves grounding my spirit and resetting me. A vacay to the Bahamas ain't a bad option either, right? But what to wear? There are so many fun ways to get dolled up for a day (or week) on the beach. Here are a few of my favorite beach styles to inspire your next holiday.
Bohemian is probably my go to when I'm headed to the beach. Comfortable and romantic, it speaks to and expresses the most feminine, earthy side of me. Light and airy, I can cover my skin from the suns rays or layer up if it cools down. Flowy natural fabrics are an easy way to pull off this look, but throw on a headscarf or wrap it around your hips and honey you've done put an outfit together. A flowy cotton blouse, my wide leg flared denim pants and one of my grandmother's old silk scarves is something I'll often wear to the beach over my suit.
#2 Linen
Linen just looks elegant and timeless in my opinion. White linen, natural, gray, black. It's breathable and no matter how much or how little you spend on it, it looks nice. Also, you can get away with some wrinkling and it just looks playful. Put your man in a linen shirt and pants too while you're at it. Instantly beach chic.
This is a deep orange linen sundress I throw on over bathing suits (I actually went hiking in Kauai in this dress for a wedding), it works casually during the day with sandals, or I can dress it up with jewelry and heels.
#3 When In Doubt, Wear WHITE
White is classic, no brainer. Especially with a nice golden tan. This dress is really sexy with the bare shoulders and high-low hemline. All white or off white is perfect for pictures on the beach too. I love seeing family photos where everyone is in white on the beach.
#4 Hats.... and the lucky people that can wear them.
Look how happy this hat makes her feel. This could be you.
#5 Stripes (Pirate-Chic?)/ Nautical
#6 Bodysuit and High Rise Shorts/Cutoffs
So happy this look came back. I think high rise pants/shorts/skirts worn at the natural waist is really flattering and I dig the way bodysuits look with them. A cute one piece bathing suit would be great with these shorts too.
#7 A Great Bikini and an Oversized Shirt or Tunic
My favorite swimwear/bikinis have always been ones that I have purchased on vacations. This one was purchased in Bari, Italy and though I have searched the internet for this brand to buy more that are similar I cannot find them. The moral of the story is that splurging on that unique piece when you're out of town is ok in my book.
#8 Pinup-Retro
#9 Tropical Bahama Mama
Why not embrace your surroundings and wear a tropical print. Rock blues and greens to play off of the water and let your inner mermaid shine.
